Bioproton (Dr Carlos Luna-Flores) and the Queensland University of Technology are working in collaboration to develop sustainable astaxanthin for antioxidant in animal feed and aquaculture industries. Nowadays astaxanthin is mainly produced synthetically from unsustainable petrochemicals, but Bioproton hopes to change this through a natural yeast-based production method.
